Mission

Ashes to Blossoms is dedicated to building an inclusive and just Colorado Springs.

Vision

We envision a Colorado Springs where everyone feels comfort in engaging with all facets of the political and social structures of the city, and where cultural diversity is celebrated in all spaces.

Values

Justice

Recognizing all humans as free and rational beings, we believe in asserting our rights in all spaces and seeking fairness when someone in our community is wronged. Layered systems (e.g., capitalism, hierarchy, criminal justice, etc.) are designed to deny access to power, privilege, and money. We seek to connect our marginalized communities to those with access to resources as we work within current systems to ensure due process.

Inclusion

Our historically marginalized communities have been oppressed for many centuries and prevented from accessing resources more readily available to those of people with privilege. We believe that an inclusive community encourages equal access to opportunities and resources, and aims to allow for the sharing of power, privilege, and money.

Hope

Hope is key to accomplishing goals and navigating life circumstances, particularly in marginalized communities. Hope is what allows us to build resiliency when trying to navigate systems built upon damaging beliefs and immoral social structures. We stand with our community in the face of racism, misogyny, and capitalistic hierarchy. When the world has beaten you down; when the systems oppress; when you have repeatedly been told ‘no’; when you don’t know how to respond to the evil you see all around you, we offer hope.

Safe Space

We believe all members of our community deserve access to safe spaces. We create spaces for letting down and letting go; for grieving and feeling; for anger and sadness; for learning and building. We meet people where they are and shine a light in a darkened room. We seek to elevate their voices and advocate for them when they have been drained of any hope.
